Glucosamine and Chondroitin For Joint Pain

Filed under: Living With Nutrition — @ 1:31 pm

Benefits of Glucosamine Chrondroitin as a Dietary Supplement

In the medical world today, many diseases and disorders have no cure. Most
of the things offered by the medical world to diseases and disorders are
only just intervention. There are no exact things to reverse the whole body
function.

Most of the treatments provided and offered are only acts to lessen or avoid
the worsening of the diseases and disorders. Medical world still relies to
the traditional medicine that has been developed and innovated.

Alternatives are given to act as sources of necessary nutrition that is
needed by the body. They are the things that are used to supply the deficit
of the medicines that are available.

The medical world still relies on the natural products that are necessary to
our body. They still rely on vitamins and minerals that our body required.
They still rely on the chemicals that are produced by the external
environment and internal environment of the human’s body.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are two of the chemicals that are needed by the
body. The human body normally produces them but because of health problems,
the homeostasis is being impaired leading to disorders.

Glucosamine is a natural sugar produced by the body and found in some foods.
It is involved in the production, maintenance, and repair of the cartilage.
It is also found in the liver and kidneys. It can be synthesized for
commercial use from the crab, lobster, or shrimp shells.

Glucosamine is the one that stimulates the production of glycosaminoglycans
and proteoglycans. They are essential building blocks of cartilage.

Chondroitin is a more complex molecule than glucosamine. It is also a major
constituent of cartilage. It draws fluid into the tissue to give the
cartilage more elasticity and to slow breakdown by protecting it from
destructive enzymes.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are used to help fight osteoarthritis and joint
pains. Advocates say that glucosamine supplements can jumpstart the
production within joints. The long lasting pain relief and functional
improvements are some of the benefits that are reported by the users of the
two chemical supplements. It is a result of the anti-inflammatory agents, an
increase in building activities, and a reduction in the enzymatic
destruction of the cartilage.

It is also believed that glucosamine and chondroitin also reverse the
progression of damages in the joint. The rapid pain relief upon initiation
of glucosamine and chondroitin supplement is a result of increased
production of hyaluronic acid, which is involved in the lubrication and
shock-absorption activities within joint fluids.

The glucosamine-chondroitin supplement treatment is gaining popularity among
the consumers because of proof of its effectiveness in recent scientific
studies. There are evidences that glucopsamine and chondroitin help reduce
or eliminate osteoarthritic pain.

Some physicians and researchers speculate and believe that the supplements
may also offer similar benefits to the sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis,
ankylosing spondylitis, spinal disk degeneration, tendolitis, and bursitis
and physical injuries to joints.

Many advocates feel that glucosamine and chondroitin supplements play a
pre-emptive role in eliminating the development of osteoarthritis.

The use of glucosamine and chondroitin in combination may be synergistic.
More and more clinical trials have begun to support the benefits of
glucosamine and chondroitin for overall joint health and resilience.

One recent study found that general immobility over time in both a placebo
group and the experimental group that was taking glucosamine and
chondroitin. The result began to manifest quickly.

There have been too many scientific investigation, studies and researches
conducted in hopes to scientifically confirm the testimonies to the wonders
of glucosamine and chondroitin supplements.

Traditionally, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are prescribed
to treat the symptoms of osteoarthritis. These potent drugs primarily masks
symptoms that causes stomach upset and even ulcer formation, as well as
damage to the liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.

In contrast, gluocosamine and chondroitin supplements have no serious side
effects causing only mild ingestion and headaches. Glucosamine and
chomndroitin do not work by prostaglandin inhibition. The continued use of
the supplements does not lead to progressive joint destruction

Glucosamine and chondroitin are labeld as food supplement, so therefore the
Food and Drug Administration do not regulate the amount and purity of these
two. Always consult health care provider before beginning supplement regimen
to ensure safety. .

Are Your Cells Talking To Each Other?

Are Your Cells Talking To Each Other?
strong>

Communication! It permeates our lives. We communicate for many
reasons such as: 1) to get what we want, 2) to get rid of what we don’t
want, 3) to let people know how we feel, 4) to show people we care, 5)
to work productively with co-workers, etc. As members of the human
race we are fortunate to have various ways to communicate our needs
and desires. We can talk, use body language, write our requests or key
them into the computer.

But what would happen if we spoke one language and the intended
receiver of our message spoke another language. Or perhaps we are
speaking on the phone to a friend and static interfers so much that they
only hear some of our words or we say one word and they hear it as
a different word. Perhaps we are sending our message via computer
but some of the keys are either missing or mixed up. That could cause
some confusion, right? And the more static or more keys that are
missing, the more confused the message is. On the other hand the
better we can communicate with other people, the higher level we can
function at.

Did you know that the same thing happens in our body? Our body is
designed to function at an amazing level. When we think of how
complicated our body is, of all the things that could go wrong, and of
how much actually goes right without our even thinking about it, it is truly
amazing. But why do things sometimes go wrong?

Our body is made up of various systems (circulatory, nervous,
muscular, etc)
that are made up of organs (heart, lungs, blood
vessels)
that are made up of cells. To understand the importance of
communication in our body, let’s take a look at what would happen if our
body was a business.

If our body was a company, our systems would be the various
departments in the company, our organs would be the teams of people
working together within each department, and the cells would be each
individual person within the teams. The individual people are the
powerhouses of the company. If they are doing what they are supposed
to do, when and how they are supposed to, and if they are
communicating well to each other to get their individual needs met, then
the team will work well. If the teams are working well and
communicating so their needs are met, the department will work well.
And if all departments are communicating and getting their needs met,
the company is successful. But if communication brakes down at any
level, it puts the success of the company in jeopardy.

Just as people power companies, our cells power our bodies. So what
do our cells need and how do they communicate to each other? Let’s
look at their needs first. In order to work optimally our cells require
nutrients which they use to produce energy and repair themselves. This
process produces waste materials which they must eliminate. And they
must identify themselves as to what kind of cells they are and if they are
native to our body or if they are an intruder (virus, bad bacteria, etc).
Each cell is covered with glycoproteins (much like a fuzzy ball).
When our cells touch each other these glycoproteins pass
messages from one cell to another. The glycoproteins are comprised of
variations of 4 proteins and 8 essential sugars (also called
carbohydrates or saccharides).

If all glycoproteins are completely formed (no missing sugars or
proteins),
the message gets passed along intact and the needs of
the cell are satisfied. However, just like having static on the phone lines
or missing keys on the computer keyboard; if something is missing from
the glycoproteins, communication breaks down and the cell either
doesn’t get what it needs or is sabotaged by sending out a wrong
message.

What happens if a cell doesn’t get the nutrients it needs to produce
energy or repair itself?
Oooh! Energy drain! Premature aging!

What happens if it’s message to get rid of waste material is not
understood?
Ouch! Toxin build-up! Yuck!

What if it is an invading virus but the body doesn’t know it because of
faulty cell communication?
Cold? Flu? Pneumonia? _____?

What if it is in fact a native cell that gives out a message that is
interpreted by another cell that it is an invader?
Oh-oh! The macrophages are called in to eat it up pac-man style. If
this happens frequently enough, we will eventually be diagnosed with
one of the 85 known auto-immune diseases.

Wow! Did you have any idea how important each of your cells is (yes, all
trillions of them). So how do we keep our cells communicating? It is in
the glycoproteins. If our glycoproteins are complete and properly
formed, our cells are happily sending and receiving the right messages.
Highly functioning cells make highly functioning organs, which make
highly functioning systems, which make a highly functioning body for us.
The bottom line is getting the right nutrition so our cells can make
complete and properly formed glycoproteins.

Vitamins and Their Role in Our Lives

Filed under: Living With Nutrition — @ 5:41 pm

Vitamins, like minerals, are an essential part of the function and health of the body system. While many vitamins serve individual purposes, the more common way for vitamins to function properly is as cofactors to or in partnership with other vitamins, minerals, nutrients and other substances in the body such as enzymes. Some of the most important processes in the body are the result of Vitamins partnering with each other to achieve certain affects, processes or functions.

Two of the most essential and most powerful vitamin partnerships are the group of eight vitamins that make up the nutritional powerhouse that is collectively known as the Vitamin B complex and the group of three vitamins that are known as the antioxidant vitamins. In addition to these, there are varieties of other combinations of vitamins that serve essential purposes within the body thus preserving health and enhancing function.

The vitamins that make up the Vitamin B complex include Vitamin B1 (Thiamin), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid or simply Folate), Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) and Biotin (Vitamin H).

The degree to which the Vitamin B complex affects bodily function and health, as well as the function and health of the mind in terms of cognitive processes and emotional balance and stability is nothing but amazing. The Vitamin B complex is at work in and is essential to every major system of the body and is a part of almost every important function and process.

The group of vitamins that is known as the antioxidant group is made up of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Each of these vitamins are powerful agents on their own, serving individual essential purposes in the body. But they are their most powerful and useful when they combine their strengths thus serving as antioxidants. They function to rid the body of the cell and tissue damaging free radicals that have been associated with a variety of degenerative processes and diseases including the effects of the basic aging process and the declining abilities of the mind. Some studies have suggested connections between free radicals and such infirmities as heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Free radicals are destabilized molecules, created when a weakened molecule splits and leaves the free radical without one of the electrons it needs. Weakened molecules can result from the body’s natural metabolic processes as well as from environmental contaminants such as pollution. The free radicals attack other molecules in the effort to take the electron that it is missing. This damages the attacked molecule, making it a free radical too. When enough free radicals emerge in a cell, it can cause cellular damage, which, as more free radicals continue to be produces, can cause tissue damage. Antioxidants bring these free radicals under control by giving them the electron that they need, bringing to an end their aggressive behavior against other molecules. Because of this, antioxidants are sometimes even coined as the Fountain of Youth of the New Age.

Nutritional supplements can ensure that your body has enough of the nutrients it needs to support these important partnerships. Attention to nutrition is one of the most important things you can do for the overall health of mind and body.

Chronic Constipation: This Thing is Not a Joke; Get Rid of It ASAP (part 1)

Filed under: Living With Nutrition — @ 2:08 pm

According to the research of pioneers in Naturopathy, it will be safe to say: Every disease is simply a product of chronic constipation which is a clogging up of the entire pipe system of the human body.

The average person is constantly carrying 10-15 pounds of un-eliminated feces in their bowels. This in itself has a toxic effect on the blood stream. Experts in autopsy have stated that in 60-70% of the colons examined, foreign matter such as worms and decades old feces-stones have been found still present within.

Prof Arnold Ehret, author of the Mucus-Less Diet Healing System, stated that in his fasting retreat, he had fat patients who eliminated up to 50-60 lbs of waste alone from their bodies! Chronic constipation (as in the colon) in itself might be the cause of a plethora of diseases. Taking these into consideration, it definitely will be an understatement to say that all measure must be taken to alleviate constipation in our bodies.

Chronic Constipation: Its Causes and Effects

Chronic Constipation may be caused by:

1. Failure to pay attention to the desire for bowel movement.

2. Lack of sufficient fruits and vegetables in the diet.

3. Lack of fluids by not drinking enough water. (Not just liquids as in sodas and alcohol!)

4. Poor food combinations and consumption of mucus forming and hard to digest foods.

As was mentioned earlier, the more the feces remains in the colon, the more it poisons the body as the blood stream must come in continuous contact with the colon. Furthermore, as the colon remains unclean, the foods in the stomach remain undigested or hard to assimilate, which explains why some people who apparently might be skinny, still can consume loads of food.

All of these considered, it is plain to see why fruits, some roots and mostly raw green leaf vegetables which serve as nutrient giving items and intestinal brooms, form the basis of a healthy diet. It is important to know that healing properties, not the calories as most diet fads state is the main factor for choosing a diet and avoiding chronic constipation.

The stomach is the central organ of disease matter supply. There is a limit to its ability to digest and to empty itself after the meal especially with a clogged up colon. This explains why a foul breath is perceived in the mornings and why most people look drawn and constantly tired.

The constitutional obstructions in your entire system are the sources of all diseases be it excess weight, acne, asthma you name it! All of them have their source in the colon. Without proper diet and exercise, the Standard American Diet is never eliminated and the entire system is slowly constipated, especially in the place of the symptom of the disease.

I will continue with the solutions of chronic constipation in part 2 of this article on
“Chronic Constipation: This thing is not a joke, Get rid of it ASAP…”

Keep in mind, as with any human ailment, chronic constipation can be cured and prevented permanently, you perhaps only need to be shown how for your success.

Tips For A Healthy Diet

Filed under: Living With Nutrition — @ 11:05 pm

Often I’m asked for my top two or three tips on diet. Yet, the truth of the matter is that diet is very personal and what might be a good suggestion for you, might not be all that helpful to someone else. However, here are a few tips that are beneficial to anyone.

Allow yourself one cheat meal a week. If you are just starting out, a cheat day, if you need it. (It doesn’t have to be greasy foods. It can be fruit or a carb loaded protein bar).

Listen to your body and respect it. For example, since starting this lifestyle, I can’t eat certain things (junk food; processed foods) any more. When I ignore that, my body lets me know and it isn’t pretty. I strongly believe, my body wants to be healthy and function at %110. When you reach the point of craving oats & blueberries, it (my body) doesn’t want to go back to the days of eating unhealthy foods..

If you can add GLUCORELL to your diet. Carry a few with you, for those social/work events you have to attend. Or, if you have a bad day and need to have something bad to get through the day. If you have blood sugar issue or a family history of diabetes, it is the best supplement out there.

Keep your fridge & pantry full of clean foods. Don’t bring temptation into your home.
