Retirement Signature Frames - The Perfect Retirement Gift!

Filed under: The Commercial Life — @ 10:10 pm

When most people think of a retirement gift, they think of a watch. It’s the tried and true gift that companies give employees to say thanks for all the years of hard work. It’s a great gift on behalf of the company but if you’re the lucky individual enlisted with planning the retirement party, you’re probably in need of a personalized gift on behalf of everyone at the office.

The perfect gift would probably be an affordable, personalized, lifetime keepsake from everyone attending the farewell party and yet something that would make a beautiful presentation to wish the retiree well on the next stage of their life. Is there such a gift with all these qualities and still be original?

Well, there is and it’s called a signature frame and it is able to encompass all of these great qualities by displaying pictures of the retiree surrounded with signatures and/or messages from friends and fellow co-workers. The signed frame, complimented with pictures and an engraved plaque will make a memorable gift at a retirement party.

Many signature frames are sold as kits and include everything from the pen for signing the mat board to the mounting system to quickly and easily add special photographs.

To make a fun presentation at the party, fill the frame with older photos of the person during their time at work and also personal photos of them throughout their life such as their hobbies, old graduation pictures etc. That way, when friends and colleagues sign the frame they will have a chance to reminisce about their friend while having fun looking at how much they have changed over the years. Be sure to take some new photographs at the party so they can later be added to the frame as a way to remember this final farewell memory.

This simple, fun retirement gift will provide years of happy memories for the retiree by displaying a lifetime of work memories while at the same time providing a personal memento from fellow employees and friends.

Good Directions Mean You Will Never Lose a Customer

Filed under: The Commercial Life — @ 8:54 pm

Before you can enjoy the benefits of having a life-time relationship with your customers, you first have to get them into your restaurant, store or other business. Good directions can make or break that fragile budding relationship. Here are tips to give great directions!

Make triple sure you directions are accurate, that is, read through them yourself while looking at a map, have someone else who doesn’t know the area drive them and give you feedback, and be sure to ask real customers if the directions are working. Your customers don’t care how hard you worked or how many times you’ve been through them, if the directions don’t work, they don’t work, period!

Layout your directions in bullet points and a large font so they are easy to follow while driving a car through a strange city, at night, in heavy traffic, in the rain. Be ready to fax or e-mail directions at a moments notice. (Super tip: For fast and easy e-mailing, put your directions in “signature files” in your e-mail program.)

Some people like directions with numbers, street names and mileage (proceed 1.5 miles on Harper Road then turn left onto 2nd Street East). Other people do better with directions based on landmarks (drive about 5 minutes past the Mall, then turn left at Hollywood Video). Consider offering both types of directions.

Be sure you include your full physical address (some people will prefer to call up a map or directions from a place like mapquest.com). Don’t forget to include your logo, a photograph of your restaurant (or other business) and a blurb about why you are the greatest destination on earth. This will keep your potential life-time customer motivated if they make a wrong turn.

One final tip: Offer free coffee, soda or dessert to anyone who tells you they got lost. And when they tell you what happened, listen closely and thank them sincerely: They are helping you put thousands of dollars in your pockets from dozens of future life time customers.

Raising The Bar For Online Magazine Subscription Services And Customer Service

Filed under: The Commercial Life — @ 12:36 pm

After years of flying below the radar in the magazine subscription service arena online, MagMall.com is gaining traction real fast. In December, the subscription retailer relaunched it’s once relatively boring (though clean) site with the express intent of competing more effectively against its rivals. Key to the makeover is allowing customers to manage all their subscriptions online year after year.

The new look came after Magmall.com spent 18 months learning about web design and usability with the help of the 2 founding brothers of FuturenowInc.com. Now, the web site has far less colors than before and the navigation system has been uprooted completely to simplify the entire process of finding magazines and filling out an online order forms

MagMall’s reentry into the highly competitive magazine subscription industry is not only expected to pull in new consumer customers, but provide a lift to its efforts to expand into new markets. Since September, MagMall has created a new division to sell gift certificates to magazine subscriptions in any custom denomination. Plus, it has launched new services just for small and large businesses looking to manage all their magazine and newspaper purchases.

“The new site design is a way to pull in new customers and keep them there longer,” says Jason Ciment, CEO of Magazine Mall Inc. “Plus, with the new online account management system (which is soon to get a name), we are enhancing customer loyalty in ways we never could before.”

Jason Ciment is a graduate of Fordham University (Law) and Yeshiva University (B.S. Accounting) who has forsaken two professional careers (Law and CPA) in favor of entrepreneurship and high stress.

How To Start An Internet Business - Site Layout

Filed under: The Commercial Life — @ 9:45 pm

The fourth step of how to start an Internet business involves the layout of your site. When organizing it, two audiences must be considered. Obviously, visitors to the site are the first audience. You must also keep in mind the second audience, search engine robots. Both audiences are extremely important and, fortunately, both want the same thing.

Lean, Mean Layout

Your site needs to be clean and quick if you want to be successful. Slow, cluttered sites inevitably fail because visitors and spiders get distracted and leave before taking the action you want. Let’s take a closer look.

Visitors

The layout of your site should allow visitors to quickly find information and solutions. To achieve this, every page should be no more than two clicks from the home page. Have you ever been on a site where you have to hunt to find a particular page? Poor layouts are aggravating and hurt conversion rates.

Make things as easy as possible by interlinking between the site pages. Every page should have links to primary pages and as many other pages as possible. If you look at good site, links to primary pages are listed across the top and bottom of each page. Links to specific services or products are always listed on each page. It may sound like overkill, but make it as easy as possible for your clients to move around.

Spiders

Search engines use programs called “spiders” to surf the net and index sites. When a spider finds a page, it reads the code from top to bottom and left to right. If the code is clean, the spider will index the page and follow the links to the other pages of the site.

If the code isn’t clean, spiders stop indexing pages. If pages aren’t indexed, they do not appear in search engine results. What stops spiders? Following are the most common problems:

1. Bottlenecks - Make sure each page of your site links to every primary page at a minimum. You do not want a spider to get stuck on a page and miss others.

2. Dynamic Pages - Your pages need to be static or carefully designed. If dynamic, spiders often will not index them because they aren’t sure of the content.

3. Frames - Don’t use this antiquated design technique.

4. Poor URLs - A huge mistake is to put database parameters in the URL. The URL should contain only the domain name and keywords for the page. A good URL reads: http://www.marketingtitan.com/internet_marketing_services. A poor URL with parameters would read: http://www.marketingtitan.com/id#us57486&095783

5. Images - Don’t overuse images and don’t put text in images. Images slow down your site, so make them small and optimized. Robots do not read text inside of images, thus text needs to go outside of the images or ALT tags need to be used.

Evaluating The Layout

Once the site is designed, TEST IT! Surf the pages and see if you are able to flow through the site. Add internal links wherever possible. Finally, test the load times of your site on a 56k dial-up modem. If the site loads in under 20 seconds, you are headed in the correct direction.

Your site layout is important. Make sure it caters to the needs of the visitors, whether human or spider.

The glitz and glamour of the casino has always been an alluring draw for people all over the world. With money won and lost on the roll of a dice, a spin of a wheel or a turn of a card, the casino industry is an alluring neon paradise for thrills and spills. Now that same excitement has become available to millions worldwide through virtual casinos all over the Internet.

The online casino industry is red hot, it is churning in millions of dollars through it’s faced paced exciting games. The membership of these sites is increasing daily and therefore so are the profits. The industry has ballooned into one of the biggest on the Internet, and has been one of the major success stories of the Web. This billion dollar business is so lucrative that people all over the world are trying to muscle their way in on the action. The big companies need to stay ahead of the game and build on their reputation, whilst the smaller ones are snapping at their heals desperate for the chance to become a contender. Huge bonuses, extra games and a variety of deals are all used to entice the customers to their virtual doors.

As a result of this hugely competitive world the role of advertising a product has become hugely important. The more people these casinos can reach the more likely they are to attract a few passers by. Television, radio, billboard and sponsorship are all options that have been used, but these are largely expensive and have no guarantee of success. So many casinos have employed the freely available market of the affiliate program. For both parties it is a potentially lucrative win win situation. The casino benefits from free marketing and doesn’t pay a penny until somebody follows the link to their site. The affiliate receives a percentage of the money that their guests supply to the site each and every month for the lifetime of the gamers. It is a unique situation in the world of modern business, in which two parties can be extremely happy for their portion of the payout. The affiliate because they are effectively getting paid for nothing, and the casino because they get a new customer to spend money and hopefully attract further members to their site.
